Data centre expansion & relocation search
Find space for the next stage of your deployment. We investigate additional capacity and alternative facilities around your location, operating constraints and timetable, and arrange introductions to the operators you select.
How we help.
- Record the capacity gap, existing commitments and dates that shape the search.
- Investigate additional space at an existing location where authorised, alongside alternative facilities.
- Compare available information on capacity, delivery milestones, connectivity and proposed terms.
- Introduce shortlisted operators and keep unresolved questions visible for your project team.
Who this is for
- An occupier approaching the limits of its current space or power allocation.
- A business reviewing another facility before an existing commitment ends.
- A team planning a second location or a phased move with a period of overlap.
Typical enquiries
- A business needing more cabinets and power near its existing deployment.
- An occupier comparing renewal or expansion with a move to another facility.
- A team seeking a second location with different geographic requirements.
Work backwards from the dates.
A proposed move-in date needs to account for the space, connections, installation and your existing commitments.
Expand where you are
Start with the constraint. It may concern power, cooling, space or the combination.
- Ask what can change within the existing deployment and under what terms.
- Establish whether nearby space and additional power are available together.
- Record which proposals depend on further work, approvals or a new commitment.
Compare another facility
Make the comparison using the whole proposed arrangement.
- Separate recurring charges from connection, installation and other one-off costs.
- Identify overlap costs while both locations may be in use.
- Ask your advisers to review existing notice obligations and the proposed new agreement.
Plan the handover
Your operational team owns the migration plan. The search should support its milestones.
- Distinguish facility availability from connectivity and equipment readiness.
- Identify the information needed before installation can be accepted.
- Allow your team to define sequencing, testing and continuity requirements.
Tell us the essentials.
Share what you know. We can discuss the rest.
- Your current space, capacity and the specific constraint you need to resolve.
- Notice dates, end dates and existing contacts or options already discussed.
- Target locations and any connectivity or proximity constraints.
- Required capacity at first occupation and at later stages.
- Your preferred move window, overlap allowance, budget and technical project contact.
Before work starts
We discuss the property requirement, the work and the fees with you. Those are agreed in writing before Rivermark starts work or contacts anyone about a property.
Request a callCommon questions.
Can you compare staying with moving?
Yes. Where authorised, the search can compare an existing operator’s expansion proposal with information from alternative facilities. We record the assumptions and unresolved points for each option.
Do you carry out the migration?
No. Equipment handling, network changes, testing and operational continuity sit with your technical team and appointed providers. Rivermark’s role is the facility search and introductions.
Can you contact the current operator confidentially?
We agree who can be approached and what can be shared before making contact. Tell us about any existing discussion, restriction or sensitivity when outlining the requirement.
What if the target date is close?
Share the date and the parts of the brief that are fixed. We can investigate the information operators provide, but only they can confirm capacity and delivery commitments.
